Popular Food Network host calls Canada's Gentle Island a "Chef's Paradise"

Chef Michael Smith
An Island resident and host of popular Food Network programs including Chef Michael's Kitchen, Chef at Home, The Inn Chef and Chef Abroad, Chef Michael Smith has raised awareness of PEI as a destination for food lovers, specifically profiling Island-produced goods, hands on culinary experiences and restaurants. As an Island resident, Chef Michael Smith has acted as spokesperson for the province's food movement and has helped to build the Island's culinary brand by hosting fine food events like Fall Flavours and sitting on the board for the Culinary Institute of Canada in Charlottetown.
As one of the most important contributors to the province's economy, the food industry in PEI offers visitors fresh field-to-table dining and hands-on experiences. With miles of lush farmland and coastlines dotted with fishing harbours, restaurants such as Lot 30 and Dalvay by the Sea serve the highest quality lobster, oysters and mussels daily.
"A chef's paradise, PEI is much more than its famous potatoes. The Island is full of hidden culinary gems that only residents are familiar with," said Chef Michael Smith. "It's a place where the lobster on your plate may have been harvested on the fishing boat at the dock outside your window and the salad is made up of herbs and greens from the garden in the yard," continued Smith.
