Hardwood and open fields give way to a vista over the Souris River with at spectacular view of the historic St. Mary's Church
A picnic park is located in the station area in Souris above the main street. (Souris is the point where the ferry connects to the Magdalen Islands.)
Trail shelters occur approximately every 5 km along the eastern route at significant locations.
