A Celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Novel Anne of Green Gables
The year 2008 will mark the 100th anniversary of the publication of L.M. Montgomery's first and most famous novel Anne of Green Gables. In honour of this important anniversary, a committee has been formed to plan a series of events in 2008 to celebrate the author, the novel and the impact they have had on readers around the world. Our vision is to raise public awareness of Montgomery and her writing through this celebration, and to offer people from around the world the chance to celebrate the many things that have made Anne of Green Gables so famous through the years - imagination, love, humour, and, of course, the beauty of Prince Edward Island. While we are still in the development phase of planning this celebration, we have compiled a sampling of potential events and activities.
