Boil beets until tender. Drop into cold water and remove skins. You may slice beets and put in warm sterilized bottles. Fill bottles nearly full.
Combine one pint of vinegar and 2 cups white sugar. Bring to a boil. While hot, pour over the beets until bottles are full. Drop in a few white cloves.

Seal tightly.
