Margaret's Old-Fashioned Fudge

5 cups brown sugar 3 Tbsp. flour 1 Tbsp. butter 1 cup milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. baking powder Put sugar, flour, milk and butter in a saucepan. Stir to mix. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Continue cooking to soft ball stage (236 degrees). Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and baking powder. Place saucepan into a pan of cold water. Beat until smooth and starting to set. Pour into buttered 9x9-inch pan. Allow to cool and set. Submitted by Rose Long, Tracadie Cross
