Base: 3/4 cup butter 1 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup brown sugar Topping: 2 envelopes gelatin 1/2 cup cold water 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup cold water 1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 tsp. salt coconut, red and green cherries Preheat oven to 350 F. Rub flour, butter and brown sugar together. Press into greased square pan. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool. Soak gelatin in 1/2 cup cold water. Boil sugar, 1/2 cup water and softened gelatin together for 2 minutes. Cool. Beat for 2 minutes. Add vanilla and salt. Spread over base. Sprinkle with coconut. Decorate with pieces of red and green cherries. Place in refrigerator to set. Yield 30 squares. Submitted by Carol Balsom, Richmond RR.
