2 3/4 cup or 1 lb. raisins, light seedless
2 cups gumdrops
1/2 cup shorteningv 1 cup white sugar
2 eggs beaten
2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk

Grease loaf pan 9x5x3 inches. Line bottom of pan with brown paper. Cut gum drops quite finely with scissors and mix gum drops with raisins. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly. Beat well. Sift about 1/3 cup dry ingredients over gumdrops and raisins. Toss lightly. Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk to shortening mixture. Add gum drops and raisins. Bake in slow oven 300 F for 2 1/2 hours. Store in closely covered tin for several days before use. It will keep for at least 3 weeks. Submitted by Estelle Gerritsen, Point Prim.
