This is a great favourite all year round, but it's especially
popular at holiday time.
1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 onions, chopped
8 to 10 cups tornup bread (as for stuffing)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 can mushrooms, drained
2 cups raw bar clams
Melt the butter or margarine in a large frying pan, add the onions
and cook till soft. Add the bread, salt, pepper, mushrooms and
clams. Mix well until clams are cooked (about 10 minutes).
Fill empty bar clam shells with the mixture, cover with foil and
To serve, heat frozen in 350 F oven till soft to the touch, remove
the foil and brown a little. Green pepper may be added.
