Caramel Popcorn (Poppycock)

This makes a lovely gift wrapped up in festive cans. And it's
nice to eat as a snack. I make it every Christmas and give a lot
away for gifts.
1 cup unpopped corn
1 lb. mixed nuts
1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Pop corn. Place in a greased roasting pan and add nuts. Make a
mixture of butter, sugar and corn syrup and boil for 5 minutes.
Add vanilla and baking soda and stir well. Pour over popcorn
and nuts and mix well. Bake in 250 F oven for 40 minutes, stirring
every 10 minutes.
