English Toffee

This is a simple candy recipe that will please your family and friends. They will beg for more. It's a guaranteed favourite.

1 lb. butter
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup water

Combine the ingredients in a heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, gradually reduce the temperature. Cook to a hard stage and pour onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Sprinkle with chocolate chips, leave for 30 seconds or till melted and spread out the chocolate.

Sprinkle with slivered almonds. Put in freezer for approximately 10 minutes. Break with a knife.
