Cherry Nut Shortbreads

1 cup margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup finely chopped maraschino cherries
Sifted icing sugar
Thoroughly cream the margarine and sugar; blend in vanilla.
Add flour and salt, sifted together; mix well. Fold in nuts and
cherries. Chill dough 1 hour. Shape dough into 1inch balls
and place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 325 F 1820
minutes. While still warm, sift icing sugar over top of the cookies.
Cool thoroughly. Makes 4 dozen.
