This recipe was my great grandmother's and is over 100 years old. They are still a favorite any time of year, but especially at Christmas.

1-1/3 cup all­purpose flour
21/4 tsp. baking powder
1/3 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
5 Tbsp. shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk

Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and dry ingredients, alternately with milk. Put in very small muffin tins and bake at 350 F, until firm, about 30 minutes.

Melt 1/2 cup butter, dip cupcakes, in butter and sugar/cinnamon mixture (1/2 cup sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon).
