This recipe is our family's favorite treat during the Christmas holiday. They also freeze well and taste delicious warmed in the microwave.

2 cups well­cooked mashed potatoes
1/2 cup margarine
1 cup milk
3 eggs
21/2 cups white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
6 cups flour
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
4 tsp. baking powder
11/2 tsp. salt

Bring the milk to a boil, add potatoes and margarine. Let cool. Beat eggs. Add sugar and beat well. Add the 1st mixture and beat. Gradually add flour and other ingredients. Pat dough out to half­inch thickness on lightly floured board and cut with donut cutter. Cook in hot fat.
