1/2 cup soft butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
13/4 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. ground cloves

Beat together butter and sugar until smooth, then add an egg and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg and ground cloves and stir until blended. Make into a ball and wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour. On a floured surface roll dough to 1/8 inch and cut into 2­inch thick round cookies. Put onto slightly greased baking sheet and bake at 350 F 10­12 minutes. Remove to cooling racks. Makes 50 cookies. Decorate cookies with decorator gel, candies, and red coarse sugar crystals.
