Christmas Shortbread - 1999

1 cup butter 1/4 cup brown sugar 2 cups flour 1 1/2 cups coconut 2/3 cup red and green cherries 1/4 cup golden raisins 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or almonds 1 can sweetened condensed milk Cream butter and sugar. Blend in flour until mixture resembles course crumbs. Pat dough evenly in a greased 9x9" pan. Bake in 350 F. oven for 20 minutes. Spread the combined rest of ingredients over the cooked layer. Bake an extra 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Cut into bars when cooled. Submitted by Gail Feehan, Cornwall, P.E.I.
