2 cups brown sugar
1 1/2 cups soft butter
5 eggs
3/4 cup strawberry jam
1/4 cup molasses
1 cup milk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
4 cups flour
1 lb. light raisins
1 lb. dark sticky raisins
1 lb. currants
1/2 lb. mixed fruit

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Add jam and molasses, stirring well. Add milk. Sift dry ingredients, add to creamed mixture, saving one cup of the flour mixture to coat the fruit. In a separate bowl, put in fruit and add the cup of flour mixture to coat the fruit. Mix well. Meanwhile grease, flour and cut wax paper to line a tube pan. Add mixture to pan. Cook in a slow oven 300 F. for 3 1/2 hours. Submitted by Gail Feehan, Cornwall, P.E.I.
