Horseshoes - 1999
7 cups flour
1 lb margarine
5 eggs
1 cup milk
1 pkg. yeast
pinch salt
Filling:
1 lb. ground walnuts
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 cup white sugar
To roll dough:
Mix 3 Tbsp flour with 2 cups icing sugar. Mix flour salt and butter until mixture is blended. Dissolve yeast in warm milk and add eggs. Pour into flour mixture and knead well. Form a ball and refrigerate for a few hours. Pinch off small pieces of dough and roll out on powdered sugar for squares. Place some walnut filling on dough and roll to a horse shoe shape. Brush with egg wash and bake on cookie sheet. Bakein 350 oven until golden brown. Makes about 4 dozen. These are excellent and they are not too sweet.
