Chocolate Chip Squares - 1999

1 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 Tbsp. vanilla 1 Tbsp. milk 2 egg yolks Mix altogether. Very thick. Press into bottom of pan 8x8". Sprinkle 1 pkg. of chocolate chips over batter. Meringue: 2 egg whites (beaten stiff) 1 cup brown sugar Cook in oven, not too hot for about 30 minutes 350 F. Cook bottom and meringue all at once. Cool. cut in squares. Can be frozen. Freezes very well. Submitted by Joanne Stewart, P.E.I.
