Vanilla Sauce for Plum Pudding - 1999

Mix in a saucepan 1 cup packed brown sugar 2 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 cup cold water Add stirring constantly: 1 1/2 cups boiling water Cook for 5 minutes or so. Stir in: 4 tbsp. butter 2 tsp. vanilla 1/8 tsp. salt This sauce can be made ahead and reheated. Submitted by Joyce White, Hampshire, P.E.I.
