Patty's Brown Sugar Fudge - 1999

2 cups brown sugar 2 cups white sugar 1 cup canned "whole" milk (evaporated) 4 tbsp. butter 4 tbsp. corn syrup vanilla nuts (optional) pinch salt Boil sugar, milk. butter , corn syrup and salt on stove over low heat. Use and egg whisk and constantly stir to prevent burning. Boil approximately 5-7 minutes until soft ball stage (when a spoonful mixture dropped into very cold water forms a soft ball.) Remove from heat. Add nuts and vanilla. Mix with electric mixer until mixture firms, about 10 minutes. Spread into buttered 9x9x2 pan. Cut into squares. Makes about 2 dozen.
