Soft Molasses Cookies
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cups molasses
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 cup hot water
5 cups flour
Method: Cream shortening and brown sugar, add egg and molasses, beat well.
Add 2 cups of flour, mix well
Add 1/2 cup hot water, mix well
Then add rest of flour (3 cups) and spices and salt mix.
Leave in fridge overnight, roll out, cut with cookie cutter.
Bake 350-360 F.. for 10 minutes.
Makes 5-6 dozen.
