3 cups raisins
2 cups hot water
1 cup cooking oil
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. low sodium (salt)
1 cup dates
1 tsp. cinnamon

Put the above ingredients in a saucepan and boil for 30 minutes. Let cool and add;

3 cups sifted flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup chopped cherries
1/4 cup walnuts
1/4 cup lemon peel
1/3 citron peel
Bake at 350 F. for 30 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 F. and bake for 45 minutes longer or until test shows done. Yields: 2 two lb. loaves. May use tin pans or long angel food pans. This recipe uses no sugar or eggs. Also for a change or darker cake, use 2 cups whole wheat flour and 1 cup white flour (or reverse) Real good. Submitted by Dot Bailey.
