War Cake
2 cups brown sugar2 tbsp. shortening
1 pkg. seeded raisins
2 cups cold waterv 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. nutmeg
Boil together for 5 minutes. When cool add two beaten eggs. Then add: 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. soda Bake in tube pan for 1 1/2 hours or more at 350. Submitted by Cathy Drake, Jewell Road, P.E.I.
