The winner of the PEI ADAPT Council's 2013 "Taste Our Island" Award is Terre Rouge-Bistro Marche in Charlottetown. In less than a year, this outstanding eatery has stormed up the culinary ladder to emerge as one of the Island's best.
Terre Rouge is a partnership between chef/owners John Pritchard and Dave Mottershall. Pritchard is an internationally known executive chef and former host of Global TV's cooking show, Red Hot & Ready. Mottershall is an award-winning Red Seal chef who has worked in top restaurants across Canada, and was named PEI Chef of the Year in 2012.
Together, the pair has created a menu that's firmly grounded in local products and the freshest ingredients. The selection at Terre Rouge includes organic vegetables, pork, beef, chicken, and seafood dishes, as well as artisanal cheeses, gourmet breads, pastries, chocolates, and all-natural gelato.
Yes, it's about the food, but it's also about the philosophy. As innovative and daring as John and Dave are, their 100-mile, farm-to-table rule is an unbreakable one. It's straight from producer to plate, often within hours.
