Anne of Green Gables - Canada’s best-loved family musical returns once again to the stage at this summer’s Charlottetown Festival. Anne of Green Gables -The Musical™ is the original musical adapted from the novel "Anne of Green Gables" by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It has been running every year at the Confederation Centre of the Arts since 1965.
Anne & Gilbert-The Musical returns for 2013 and will be taking place at The Guild in Charlottetown. Based on the sequel novels to Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery, the story follows Anne as she begins her first teaching job at a one-room schoolhouse. Romantic complications unfold when childhood sweetheart Gilbert Blythe proposes marriage----and he's not her only suitor. Troubled by her orphan past, Anne doubts if she can love anyone. But as Anne discovers the truth about her parents, a path to future happiness is revealed.
If she were alive today, author Lucy Maud Montgomery would be overjoyed by the continuing interest in her most famous work, Anne of Green Gables. The novel has fans from all around the world, and has generated widespread curiosity about the places Montgomery lived in and wrote about.
At the Anne of Green Gables Museum at Silver Bush, you will find artifacts from L.M. Montgomery's time at this home of her relatives, the Campbells. Don't miss Matthew's Carriage Ride around the Silver Bush property, down by the Lake of Shining Waters or overlooking pastoral farmland on the way to the beach.
Visit the Lucy Maud Montgomery Birthplace, which is decorated with authentic Victorian period pieces and overlooks New London Harbour. Special exhibits include the replica of the writer's wedding dress and personal scrapbooks containing copies of her many stories and poems.
