3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
Mix above ingredients together thoroughly.
2 cups flour
2 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
Mix together and stir into first mixture. Form into walnut size balls. Place about 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes at 375 F. Roll in powdered sugar while still hot. Do not let cookies get too brown.
