2 cups flour
1 cup butter
1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. brown sugar
Blend together well. Press into an 8x8- or 9x9-inch pan and cook 7-8 minutes in a 350 F oven.
Topping:
1 cup crushed pineapple
2 Tbsp. corn starch
juice from a small bottle of cherries
Mix and cook in double boiler until thickened. Add some cut up cherries. When cool, spread over base and top with 2 egg whites, beaten stiffly with 2 Tbsp. white sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla. Brown lightly in 350 F oven.
