2 egg whites beaten stiff and creamy
2/3 cup white sugar
pinch salt
1 cup chocolate chips (small ones best)
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Beat egg whites and salt until stiff and creamy. Gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Fold in nuts, chips and vanilla . Put by tsps on foil-lined cookie sheets. (For Christmas, put 1/2 red and green candied cherries on top of each cookie.) Place cookie sheets in a preheated oven 350 . Shut off oven. Leave 12 hours (overnight) without opening oven. These store well in airtight containers. Yield: 3-4 dozen.
