Nothing better on a cold winter day.

3 lb boneless cross-rib, blade or shoulder roast
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
1/2 tsp whole allspice
1/4 tsp pepper
1 orange, juice and rind
1 can consomme, undiluted

In a heavy saucepan, brown roast in oil on all sides. Add onion and quickly saute. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over meat. Cover and simmer over low heat 2-3 hours or until tender. Makes 8-10 servings.
