Cream together:
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Add:
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Beat well.
Sift together:
3/4 cup sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
Add to creamed mixture.
Stir in:
3/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup gumdrops, cut in small pieces.
Drop from teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in moderate oven (375 F.) about 10-12 minutes.
Makes 3 dozen cookies
