Preparation time: 20 minutes Baking time: 25-30 minutes 1/2 cup butter or margarine 1/2 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs 1 1/2 cups sifted pastry flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 3/4 cup candied mixed fruit 1/4 cup raisins Lemon Glaze: 1/4 cup sifted icing sugar 1 tsp. water 1/2 tsp. lemon juice Line 8 inch square pan with waxed paper. grease paper and sides of pan. Blend butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and eggs and beat thoroughly. Gradually add sifted dry ingredients. Stir in fruit. Spread in prepared pan. Bake in moderate oven 350 , 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly. Turn out on rack and peel off paper. Brush with glaze. Cool, then cut into 24 bars.
