Island Breweries & Cideries
Prince Edward Island may be new to the craft brewery scene but it is already excelling. Talented brewers and local support have put these breweries and cideries on the map.
Barnone Brewery and Hop Farm is located in the rolling hills of Rose Valley. Barnone Brewery is the only beer farm on the Island. Visit the barn to get a first-hand look at the process, and listen to some music in the loft while looking out at the incredible view.
Bogside Brewing is located in Montague and opened in April of 2019. The brewery, taproom and restaurant include local craft beer and Island-sourced ingredients. Brewing is done on-site in the 10,000 square foot location with a glass door separating the production side from the public side.
Copper Bottom Brewing opened in 2017 as the first brewery in the Eastern part of the Island in Motague. The brewery is located in a historic building in Montague which was the first town hall in 1938 and has acted as the office space for the town newspaper for the past 40 years. The Taproom has a great view overlooking the Montague River. Copper Bottom Brewing features brewery tours, growler fills and live entertainment from local artists year round. Located within the Points East Coastal Drive.
Lone Oak Brewing Co opened in 2019 and is located within the Central Coastal Drive in Gateway Village in Borden-Carleton. This is a must stop as you arrive on PEI via the Confederation Bridge. While having an innovated approach, this locally owned brewery uses all local products. Offering a spacious tap room with live local entertainment, trivia and more. Lone Oak Brewery is open year-round.
Moth Lane Brewing opened in Ellerslie in 2016, Moth Lane Brewing is the first brewery to open up in the western end of the Island. It is in a renovated oyster building which includes a tasting room where you can take in the incredible seaside view.
The PEI Brewing Company has won gold medals at the Canadian Brewing Awards and Conference many times. The PEI Brewing Company is a brewer and distributor of all-natural craft beer located in Charlottetown. Great entertainment, food, and insightful tours make this a great brewery to check off the list.
The Gahan House is located in downtown Charlottetown in a historic building, The Gahan House offers a restaurant, beer retail, as well as the Brewery. Take a tour downstairs, and then head upstairs for a bite to eat. Gahan prides itself on being a great spot to meet up with friends and enjoy a relaxed unique atmosphere, as well as their delicious handcrafted ales.
Upstreet Craft Brewing believes in community almost as much as they believe in making the best possible beer. Their location in downtown Charlottetown is a gathering place to come together with friends, to meet your neighbours and to celebrate camaraderie over a beer and a few laughs.
Village Green is located in Cornwall, just south-west of Charlottetown, and claims the title of PEI's newest brewery and tap room. Originally built as a standard little brick post office, today its bright and modern interior plays homage to the history of Cornwall area. The Holy Fox Food Truck operates outdoors on the green.
Double Hill Cidery is a cidery in Eastern PEI. Their first product Nomad, is made from wild apples, collected from hedgerows and the forest edges of the Island. Nomad is currently available in PEI Liquor stores and Double Hill has plans to open a tasting room in the future.
Red Island Cider is located in Charlottetown. They offer different variations of cider, including hopped!
Riverdale Orchard is a gold award winning cidery located in Bonshaw. The cidery has a tasting and viewing room as well as a small commercial kitchen. You can also view the orchard which is onsite.
