Jolly Jelly Cookies

1 pkg. Duncan Hines yellow cake mix for 2 layer cake
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup finely chopped pecans
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 Tbsp. milk
Red or green jelly

Heat oven to 375 F. In a large bowl with mixer at low speed, combine cake mix, salt, pecans, shortening, eggs and milk. Mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoon, 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake 10­12 minutes. Make a depression in the centre of each cookie (use back of 1/2 tsp. measure). Bake cookies on cookie sheet for 1 minute, remove to finish cooling. Fill in the depression with red or green jelly.
