Looking for a fun outdoor activity for your kids to participate in this winter? Biathlon is a winter sport that combines cross-country skiing and precision rifle target shooting‎. Biathlon PEI offers two excellent programs at the Brookvale Nordic Centre.

Learn to Ski

The Learn to Ski Program offers children, aged 6 to 9 years-old, the opportunity to learn the basic skills of classic cross country skiing in a safe and fun environment. Former cross-country ski Canada Games coaches John and Ann Keuper lead the group.

Dates: Saturday mornings from January to March.

Equipment required: Ski equipment is required and may be rented from the biathlon program or from the Nordic park.

Biathlon Bears Program

The Biathlon Bears Program offers children, aged 8-14 years-old, the opportunity to learn the basic skills of biathlon in a safe and fun environment. There are three progressive levels and each participant earns badges as they progress through the program.

Dates: Two sessions per week on Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons running from early January to March. Also, some year-round activities offered.

Equipment required: Air rifles for shooting are provided for participants' use at practice. Cross-country skate ski equipment to be supplied by the participant. Rentals are available on first come, first-served basis.

Biathlon PEI also offers clubs at the Mill River Resort and Souris Striders Ski Lodge.
