About PEI
Nestled in the Gulf of St. Lawrence on the east coast, Prince Edward Island is Canada’s smallest province, covering a land mass of 5,660 square kilometres (2,184 square miles). The Island is only 224 kilometres (139 miles) long and between 6 kilometres and 64 kilometres (four and 40 miles) wide. No part of the Island is more than 16 kilometres from the ocean. Prince Edward Island is an incredible destination for beachgoers, outdoor enthusiasts, music lovers, and food enthusiasts alike. With an abundance of parks and beaches to visit, and of course Anne of Green Gables - a fictional character so vibrant it’s as if she has come to life. From the stunning red cliffs, the miles of red and champagne beaches and the vibrant small city scenes, there is adventure around every corner waiting for you to discover. Prince Edward Island is known as Canada’s Food Island and our famous mussels and oysters can be found on menus around the world. PEI also offers foodies the two-week-long PEI Fall Flavours Festival each October celebrating our culinary scene during our harvest season. You’ll also find a Culinary Trail and a growing number of wineries, breweries and distilleries across the Island!
