Theatre – All the Island’s a Stage!Well, maybe not all of it, but if you love live theatre in any of its many forms, prepare to be enthralled.

Island Theatres

Original Canadian theatre productions thrive in Prince Edward Island. The renowned Charlottetown Festival stages the famous Anne of Green Gables – The Musical, the longest-running Canadian musical. This year, the festival has also been home to the world premiere of Evangeline, based on Longfellow’s bittersweet epic poem and love story set during the Acadian expulsion. Just a stone’s-throw away, the intimate Guild theatre hosts Anne & Gilbert – The Musical, dramatizing the story of Anne and her true love. Theatre lovers can check out plays, storytelling and musical performances at venues including the Victoria Playhouse in Victoria-by-the-Sea, Watermark Theatre in North Rustico, St. Peters Courthouse Theatre in St. Peters Bay, the Harbourfront Theatre in Summerside and the Kings Playhouse in Georgetown.

TheatreOur varied venues for the performing arts run the spectrum, from world-famous blockbuster to best-kept-secret status, and everything in between.
