About

The fact that Lucy Maud Montgomery taught in this country school in 1897-98 spurred its restoration in 1989 and its re-location to Central Bedeque in 2021 where it is operated as part of the Bedeque Area Historical Museum. Furnished with the contents of a nineteenth-century country school, there are displays on the history of early education in the area, and on Montgomery’s life in Lower Bedeque, where she fell passionately in love with a young farmer named Herman Leard, with whose family she was boarding.

Tue-Sat, 10 am–5pm; Sun 1-5 pm (closed Mon), $5 adults, $4 seniors and students, children 12 and under free. Fee includes Bedeque Museum.
