Studio portrait of Jonah Anderson as Elvis

Jonah Anderson

Eastern Prince Edward Island

Jonah was born in eastern PEI. Education and work took him away, but his heart always brought him back home.

What does your average day look like?

When working, I’m a student vacation Planner and it is one of the best jobs I have ever had. Visitors are excited to be on a PEI vacation, and I get the privilege to make their vacations exceptional. When I’m not working, I can often be found doing one of three things: first, studying for my master’s in writing and new media, second, performing as an Elvis Tribute Artist, and third, producing plays as a proud lifelong playwright and member of the Playwright’s Guild of Canada.

What is your favourite thing about life on PEI?

When I think about life on PEI, two favourite things come to mind: how friendly and caring Islanders are, and how when I need to relax, I can find true silence in any of our rejuvenating natural spaces.

What is something people wouldn’t know if they are not from PEI?

That our radiant red soil looks that way because of the high iron content. It truly is a marvel to see in person!

What are you passionate about personally? What type of things do you really enjoy? What can’t you stop talking about?

I’m passionate about all things writing, performing, producing, directing, and everything else included in the theatre and performance fields. It is pure enjoyment when I pour my heart and soul into an artistic work, present it to an audience, and they find joy in what I have created. Currently, I can’t stop talking about my Elvis tribute show - An Evening with Elvis. I have reached a goal that I never thought I would: writing a full-length fantasy novel.

If you were to choose one spot on the Island to take someone who has never been here before, where would it be and why?

I would visit one of our breathtaking, beautiful beaches. Every summer when the water warms, I go for a swim. I am always surprised by the incredible tapestry of colours and sights I can see. This is an experience that always centers me and I love to share it with others.
