Cedar Dunes Water Order

Testing results have shown that there are elevated levels of manganese found in the drinking water. The levels are above Health Canada’s maximum acceptable concentration (MAC).

The health-related concerns associated with manganese are based on consuming drinking water above the MAC over long periods and are not considered to be acute.

The drinking water is still safe to use for bathing, laundry, etc. Please note that the presence of manganese can cause black staining on clothing and toilets.

If you have any specific questions related to health effects, contact the PEI Chief Public Health Officer to discuss further.
