Are there areas of "free camping" on PEI? I noticed that someone spent the night at a lighthouse.Thank you

Hello Lisa, 

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. Boondocking or free/wild camping is not permitted in PEI. Camping is only permitted in licensed campgrounds due to the fact that the majority of land on Prince Edward Island is privately owned.  

That being said, we have many wonderful campgrounds all across the island. We have two National Park campgrounds, eight Provincial Park campgrounds and numerous beautiful privately run campgrounds.
