Are there any local drivers who we can hire to reach beaches after the high season? We’ll be staying in Charlottetown.

Yes, there are local transportation options you can look into, especially if you’re staying in Charlottetown, but my biggest advice would be to plan ahead if you’re visiting after the high season. PEI is beautiful in the shoulder season, but transportation to beaches can take a little more organizing once summer schedules slow down.

If you’re hoping to visit beaches like Brackley, Ross Lane, Cavendish, or Greenwich, I’d start by checking Tourism PEI’s Getting Around page for current taxi, shuttle, rental car, and rideshare options. Charlottetown Taxi, City Taxi, Co-op Taxi, and other local operators may be able to take you beyond the city, but I’d recommend calling ahead, asking about beach drop-off and pick-up, and confirming the return trip before you go.

For something more guided, PEI Guided Tours & Travel could be a great option, especially if you’d like a driver and a bit of help building an itinerary around beaches, coastal views, and a few scenic stops along the way.

If your dates fall before mid-September, Transit PEI’s North Shore/Cavendish service may also be worth checking, but after high season I’d lean toward a pre-booked taxi, private driver, tour company, or rental car.

And honestly, fall beach walks on PEI can be gorgeous. Just bring layers, expect wind, and leave yourself time to enjoy the drive.

Happy beach exploring!
