I am in Halifax and I have a free day. I am not into outdoor exploration but curious about the island life experience. I plan to drive there in the morning. Any thoughts? What should I do. The weather will be rough I hear.

Good morning David;
Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander. The weather does look damp today. However, there are many options for rainy day activities outlined in this article.
It is not clear to me if you are staying for the night. If so, make sure to check out the schedule and locations of events for the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls now underway. I've heard great reviews of the Singinn’ & Swinginn show in Crapaud.
My suggestion would be to take the ferry from Nova Scotia taking you along the Points East Coastal Drive to Charlottetown. Spend a few hours in the city, perhaps checking out exhibits at the Confederation Centre of the Arts with lunch on Victoria Row. The Sea Rocket is a great dining option if you are interested in seafood, especially oysters.
Should you choose to stay the night in order to take in the show up the road in Crapaud, stop by the Visitor Information Centre at Founder's Hall for assistance with accommodations.
Stop at COWS Creamery at the Milky Way before leaving the city. From Charlottetown, drive along Red Sands Shore to Victoria-by-the Sea. Bring an umbrella and stroll the charming village. Be sure to grab a coffee and treat at Island Chocolates.
You can leave via Borden-Carleton taking the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick.
Have a wonderful time!

Asked: I will be visiting Souris in early July 2024. I would love to take in a traditional lobster boil ( if that’s the correct wording , with the potatoes and corn and sea food ). Is there a local area known for offering this?
