We are in PEI for the month of June. We would love to go cod fishing on a boat, but can’t find availability before July. Is it possible to go fishing between June 20 to June 26? We are a family of 4 adults and 2 children.

Good afternoon;

Thank you for contacting Ask an Islander. What's better than an Island vacation near the water? Being on the water!

I would recommend the Deep-Sea Fishing & BBQ experience offered by Tranquility Cove Adventures out of Georgetown. Captain Perry Gotell provides a number of Authentic PEI Experiences. He has been on the water most of his life, first fishing with his dad, then in 1987 buying his own outfit. He is a third generation lobster fisher and loved his work fishing the same lobster ground as his dad and grandfather.

You will find other deep sea fishing operators listed at TourismPEI.com. Please check the dates of operation as many deep sea fishing outfitters fish lobster until the end of June. Availability may be limited.

The most common fish caught these days when deep-sea fishing is mackerel. However, ask when you inquire about the species typically caught.

If you haven't done so already, download our 2023 visitor’s guide or pick up a hard copy when you arrive at the airport or any Visitor Information Centre. You can always stay in touch by signing up for the Tourism PEI newsletter which includes details on upcoming festivals and events and recipes too!

Have a fabulous vacation! Thank you for choosing Prince Edward Island.
