can you advise if the Wood Island to Pictou Ferry would be running still on Tuesday 30th September 2025 and if is how far beforehand would you need to book a ticket. Thank You

Answer by:

Hello Libby,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

The Wood Island Ferry is scheduled to run well into December.

To come to Prince Edward Island by ferry or the bridge, it is free. Unless you pre-book for the ferry, where they will charge you for the crossing, to guarantee you a spot. Traditionally, locals show up 30 minutes before the ferry is scheduled to leave and wait, usually without issue. You can usually book a crossing the day before and even the morning of travel.

You only pay to exit the Island, unless pre-booking the ferry.

Happy vacation planning,

Erin Davis
