We are first timers with 3 days in PEI for the SOMMO Festival in September. We are staying near Cavendish...what do you suggest we must see?

Hello Linda,

You must be excited, anticipating this trip as first-time visitors to PEI and the Sommo Festival. The festival lineup looks so good this year! Overall, the festival is very well planned, and though busy, it is comfortable. As I found it dark when walking at the end of the night, I would recommend having a small flashlight with you in case you need it.

You must walk on the beach at the PEI National Park, Cavendish. For a quiet and lasting memory, sit on the bench overlooking the water at sunrise or sunset and listen to the waves and seabirds.

To catch the charm of our villages, visit North Rustico and Victoria by the Sea. Both have lovely shops and restaurants. Another charming town is Kensington, with several cozy cafes that are good for breakfast.

I also suggest spending some time wandering through Charlottetown. The historic walking tour map, available at the Visitor Information Centre at Founders' Hall, is a great way to discover the stories behind the city's heritage buildings. While you're downtown, make your way to Peake's Wharf for live local music and a bite from The Chip Shack. Their Lobster Mac & Cheese and Apple Fries are two of my personal favourites—you won't be disappointed!

I hope this helps make your visit memorable!

Charlene
