Cavendish Beach - PEI National Park
Location: Green Gables Shore
Park Type: Campground
Supervised Beach: No
Sought after by visitors for more than a century, Cavendish Beach is world-renowned for its beautiful dunes, signature views of rugged, red sandstone cliffs, and its connection to author L.M. Montgomery and her most famous novel Anne of Green Gables. Spend a memorable day swimming, building sandcastles, and enjoying the views on this spectacular, family-friendly beach.
Cavendish Beach is equipped with washrooms and change areas, surf guard services in July and August and enhanced accessibility features, including ramps, mobility mats, designated parking and beach and buoyant wheelchairs (available by reservation).
While many know Cavendish by day, those “in the know” return as the sun sets for a breathtaking stroll along the water’s edge. Take advantage of the convenient and impressive boardwalk dune crossing that takes you from the beach complex, over the dunes to the shore for a wonderful vantage point from which to watch the changing skies. All are encouraged to be citizen scientists by visiting the onsite “Coastie” station. Take a photo of the coastal landscape, share it on social media with #CoastiePEINP or upload at coastiecanada.ca to help us track coastal erosion.
