How long would it take to drive around the island while stopping at the look-offs and lunch?

Hello Laurette,
Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.
Although Prince Edward Island is only 225 km from tip to tip yet as you drive around the Island, it offers just under 1100 kms of coastline and three scenic coastal drives to explore. This drive usually takes 3 to 5 days when stopping to view the scenery, visiting the top attractions and having lunches along the way. With always lots to see and do, the drive may take several days in order to have the time to take everything in and to make it more leisurely.
Each of the coastal drives offers majestic beauty and an unique experience. The North Cape Coastal Drive is 350 km of picturesque landscapes and seascapes, The Central Coastal Drive comprising of the Red Sands Shore and the Green Gables Shore is 253 km and the Points East Coastal Drive with 50 beaches is 475 km.
The Tourism PEI website is an excellent resource in planning a trip to Prince Edward Island and includes a First timer Itinerary.
We are looking forward to having you visit Prince Edward Island!
Regards,
Kevin Barbour
