I am curious about the grist mill in Hunter River. Is the public welcome here for photo op’s- or is this private property? I read it had seen a recent facelift. We are visiting in July. Thanks Debbie K

Hello, Debbie,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander!

I'm glad you are interested in our beautiful province. Hunter River is an awesome area to explore, as the town is beautiful. The mill is an official historical site, and it is also private property. I would not recommend venturing too close to the mill as the building is private property. However, you are certainly welcome to take pictures from a distance. The property is well-maintained and is completely stunning!

If you have any more questions about the grist mill in Hunter River, please feel free to keep in touch. Or, contact Canada's Historic Places

Regards,

Bret MacCaull
