I heard there are many sewer rats in New York City. In Canada, especially P.E.I., are sewer rats much of an issue? What is the rat population on the province? Where do they birth and hide?

Hello Sandy,

Thank you for your question to Ask an Islander.

New York City and Prince Edward Island are about as different as they could possibly be. No, sewer rats are not an issue here on PEI. I have lived here for over 50 years and I have never even seen one. I do not know the rat population or any other information on them.

Kindly,

Lisa Campbell
