I will be visiting North Rustico for several days. Could you recommend a grocery store for breakfast items and picnic items? We are healthy eaters who love fresh fruit and veggies. Maybe a farmers market?

Good morning Miriam;

Thank you for reaching out to Ask an Islander again. For breakfast and picnic items, I have a number of recommendations as follows:

  • Olde Village Bakery for sour dough bread and other fresh baked goodies;
  • North Rustico Food Market for your grocery basics;
  • Awesome Veggie Stand in South Rustico for fresh produce and pickles;
  • Gallant's Clover Farm in South Rustico for fresh produce and on-site butcher;
  • Red Barn Country Market in Ebenezer for homemade bread and other baked goods as well as some produce and pickles (not open Sundays);
  • Home Style Flavours Country Market, Rennie's Road near Hunter River for eggs, baked goods and preserves (not open Sundays) and
  • Charlottetown Farmers' Market or Summerside Farmers' Market on Saturdays for all thing healthy and yummy!

Enjoy your vacation. Thank you for choosing Prince Edward Island.
